A poster titled “BNA in Concussion management,” authored by Dr. Kutcher and Amit Reches, PhD (elminda) will also be presented at the conference. elminda is a sponsor of BSATSMC and will be showcasing its technology in the exhibitor hall.
Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, led a delegation of top Japanese businessmen, representing the largest companies in Japan, through an Israeli innovation exhibition showcasing breakthrough Israeli technologies. elminda was one of only five companies selected to present to Abe, the Japanese delegation and Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had this to say about his interaction with the BNA™ technology; “We just experienced, along with Prime Minister Netanyahu, the truly ground breaking technologies and innovations that Israel is so proud of… I was very interested in a device [BNA™ by elminda] that can really tell us how the brain functions. Maybe this new technology could tell us what and how people think. If Japan were to be the first country to develop and utilize this technology, then maybe in our next summit meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Japan would have a competitive edge.”

Personalized Medicine World Conference (PMWC) International 2013, launched by Silicon Valley investors and entrepreneurs in 2009, provides a platform to foster collaboration, catalyze change and drive innovation in Personalized Medicine. At this year’s conference, Eighteen emerging companies defining the next generation of platforms and technologies were pre-selected to compete towards the PMWC 2013 Israel Most Promising Company Award. The top three companies were chosen by a first panel of VC Judges to present at the finals in which a second panel of Expert judges selected elminda to receive Israel’s Most Promising Company Award of 2013 handed by Dr. Ora Dar, Head of the Life Sciences Sector at the Office of the Chief Scientist of Israel. “This is another vote of confidence for our great multidisciplinary team who are challenging one of the greatest unmet needs in medicine today – mapping the complex brain’s neuronal activity that underlies our daily function and behavior to create better diagnostics and treatments for brain disorders” said Ronen Gadot CEO of elminda.
Recent results of the BNA technology in concussion management were presented by Prof. Anthony P. Kontos (University of Pittsburgh, UPMC Sports Concussion Program) as part of his presentation on “The Cutting Edge of Concussion Research: From the Lab to the Clinic”. “Facing Tomorrow” – the fifth Israeli Presidential Conference under the auspices of President Shimon Peres – took place in Jerusalem on 18-20 June, 2013. As in previous years, the conference assembled world leaders, scholars, scientists, economists and business people to envision tomorrow and engage the central issues that will influence the face of our future. As the future of humankind is unequivocally linked to understanding the enigma of the human brain, a special Brain Science Experience Exhibition called “STATE OF MIND” was assembled at this year’s conference.
The STATE OF MIND exhibition was designed as a fascinating multimedia journey into the human brain, spotlighting scientific breakthroughs from the top brain researchers of Israel. “We are proud and delighted that elminda’s Brain Activity Mapping technology, known as BNA™, was highlighted as the centerpiece of the STATE OF MIND exhibition,” said Professor Amir Geva of Ben Gurion University and the founder and CTO of elminda.
The elminda multimedia exhibit allowed participants, and President Peres himself, to experience first-hand a live demo of the BNA™ Brain Mapping Technology.
The finalists will present in front of an international judging committee at BrainTech Israel 2013, Israel’s first brain technology conference, which will take place on October 14-15, 2013 in Tel Aviv.

One month after announcing plans for a landmark effort to better understand the workings of the brain, President Obama received a first-hand look at a groundbreaking brain mapping and imaging technology that may be critical to achieving this ambitious goal and to helping detect and manage a host of brain-related diseases and conditions.
During a visit to the Israel National Museum with Prime Minister Netanyahu on Thursday, March 21, President Obama saw up-close six Israeli technology innovations as part of the “Israeli Technology for a Better World” exhibit hosted by Prime Minister Netanyahu. Among the technologies that were carefully selected by an expert panel to showcase Israel’s most transformational innovations was elminda’s Brain Network Analytics or BNA™.
Developed in association with researchers at Ben-Gurion University and the Technion Institute of Technology, the BNA™ advanced imaging technology applies sophisticated signal processing and pattern recognition algorithms to 3-dimensional electrophysiological data gathered by multi-sensor electroencephalography or EEG equipment.
“We are absolutely thrilled that elminda’s brain mapping technology was chosen for this one-of-a-kind exhibit involving President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu,” said elminda CEO Ronen Gadot, who demonstrated the technology to the world leaders. “It is particularly exciting given the President’s recent announcement of the Brain Mapping Project in his State of the Union Address and the relevance of our technology in helping improve scientific understanding of the brain.”
“Such information can be vital to making progress against a host of diseases and conditions including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and to improving the health and well-being for hundreds of millions of people throughout the globe,” Gadot added.
